Pencil in Head for 15 Years Found Inside German Patient
We've
heard of using one's head, but this is ridiculous!
Doctors
in Berlin confirmed this week that they found a pencil lodged in the skull of a
24-year old patient, with a scan showing it extended four inches in length and
stretched from his sinus to his pharynx.
The
writing instrument - which has been removed - is believed to have been there
for 15 years and was the result of a childhood fall.
Aachen University Hospital says the Afghanistan native
sought help in 2011 after suffering for years from headaches, colds and
worsening vision in one eye.
Unlike
Homer Simpson, it does not appear as if the incident led to a superior IQ.
The
case made global news this week when it was presented for the first time at a
medical conference.
